This guitar solo transcription is part of my new years resolution to one a week all year! Click here to find out more about why I’m doing this. We’re back looking at Whitesnake this week, and the inimitable sound of John Sykes. The 1987 album is one of my favourites, and hopefully learning this solo will help you see why!

Power ballad!

In keeping with the tradition of all good power ballads, Is This Love have some wicked guitar harmonies, and an epic guitar solo! There are a couple of fast runs in here towards the end to watch out for, particularly the end of bar 14. It’s also quite important that you get nice accurate bends, so you’re in tune with the band!

My favourite part is the blues-inspired lick in Bar 7. Have a look at the transcription, and let me know which bit is your favourite!
